Helpdesk problem
« on: March 16, 2007, 08:56:18 am »

Hi,

I have installed helpdesk version 1.2.8 and once the user has submitted a ticket which post just fine, then an admin replies back, again this is ok, but if the user then replies back it only put the subject in the ticket, no message

Does anyone know how to fix this ?

I have tested with 1.2.1 and it worked in that version

Regards,
Garry

Hi Garry,

I've never heard of such an error. But you should try 1.2.9 to see if your problem is solved or not. If problem persists I would need to know what e-mail client has sent the mail and with what encoding.

We all know that there are some people who are very good at solving problems and there are those who sometimes struggle. The good ones aren't necessarily more technical, they just have an almost uncanny ability to solve problems which have everyone else stumped. If you are one of those that sometimes struggle, don't worry, it is possible to improve by following some very simple guidelines which we will show you on this site.

Helpdesk and desktop support are where most people start out. One piece of advise, especially when just starting out, is to favour bigger companies (and bigger networks) over smaller ones. Usually within a bigger company there is more opportunity for internal advancement, they will usually pay for your certification exams or at least have a budget dedicated to training, plus a bigger network is likely to have more formal procedures and change-management standards in place, and that's great experience you won't always get in small companies.
